Road to the Horse 2024 to Feature a Pen Wrangler Edition Wild Card Challenge

Since 2003, Road to the Horse has positioned itself as the industry’s most prestigious colt starting challenge. Creativity and innovation have been key components to the continued success of the event. With that in mind, the colt starting action at Road to the Horse 2024 will not disappoint as fans will see an expanded schedule that will combine both the Wild Card Challenge and the World Championship competition at the Kentucky Horse Park on March 21-24, 2024.

Combining the Wild Card Challenge with the Championship Competition will allow fans to enjoy an expanded array of talent, along with educational clinics, demonstrations, and world class entertainment.

In the first ever Pen Wrangler Edition of the Wild Card Challenge, three past Road to the Horse Pen Wranglers will finally have their chance to step into the round pen and showcase their colt starting skills. Turning the tables, the past Championship Competitor that the Pen Wrangler assisted, will be the Pen Wrangler for this challenge.

llenge will precede the Championship Competition, starting on Thursday March 21 and will conclude on Friday March 22, 2024. This will allow the champion of the Wild Card the chance to step directly into a Championship Competitor position.

“Watching Wild Card stories unfold has been an inspiring highlight of Road to the Horse. We’re excited to switch up the format in 2024, and for the first time, bring a Pen Wrangler lineup to the Road to the Horse Wild Card Challenge,” stated Morris Equine Group President Tina Battock. “Giving past Pen Wranglers a chance to showcase their talent aligns with our multigenerational approach to horsemanship, inspiring the next generation while showcasing a diverse lineup for our fans.”

In celebration of the 2024 Olympic Games, the Championship Competition will feature an international lineup of three competitors, showcasing talented colt starters from around the world. These three Championship Competitors will be joined by the Wild Card Challenge Champion, allowing a total of four colt starters to compete for horsemanship’s most prominent title.

Road to the Horse 2024 takes place at the Kentucky Horse Park on March 21-24. Tickets are available at www.RoadtotheHorse.com or by calling 800-514-3849. World Championship and Wild Card Challenge competitors will be announced shortly. Follow Road to the Horse on Facebook for the latest information.
