Darrell Dodds, Photographer and Former Publisher/Editor

Tally Ho at the Alamo Seminar, 2015, San Antonio, Texas

DARRELL DODDS retired from the equine publishing industry last year but remains active with his commercial and editorial photography business. During his nearly 40-year career, he published or edited five equine magazines including Western Horseman, Western Lifestyle Retailer, Horse & Rider, Paint Horse Journal and Appaloosa Journal. He was president of AHP in 1997-1998 and inducted into AHP’s Circle of Champions in 2011. Today he and his wife Marty live in Krum, Texas, along with a sundry collection of horses and dogs.

Dodds’ session is titled Better Together: Photographic Collaboration and the Creative Process. When it seems that everyone is becoming a professional photographer, media professionals must produce superior work consistently if they are going to attract an enthusiastic audience for their publication, website or blog.  Creativity thrives on diversity, tension, sharing and collaboration. Two or more creative people can leverage these benefits if they can learn to play well together.
