Join AHP
Established in 1970, American Horse Publications is a non-profit professional association of more than 450 publications, individuals and businesses dedicated to promoting better understanding and communication within the equine publishing industry. American Horse Publications offers several membership categories from which to choose. Please review the categories listed. In some cases, you may qualify for more than one. For example, an association may join as a Corporate Member and the magazine it publishes may join as a Publication Member. Annual dues run from January through December. If you have any questions regarding the appropriate category, please contact Chris Brune at 386-760-7743. NOTE: Annual dues runs from January to December. Members who join after July 1, pay dues at the half year rate of the annual dues amount. Publication Member Publication membership is available to printed publications primarily involved in the equine industry and related lifestyles. Electronic Publication Member Electronic Publication membership is available to publications distributed via the Internet in the English language. Applications for Electronic Publication membership are reviewed by a standing committee of the AHP, because of the unique nature of this media. Applicants must satisfy three prime criteria: (a) undergo regular content update and/or revision; (b) serve a substantive audience, as demonstrated by usage logs; and (c) either demonstrate that the publication serves a membership or other constituency; or is supported by paid subscriptions or paid advertising. The decision of the review committee is final. Applicants that do not qualify for Electronic Publication membership are invited to re-apply for Affiliate or Corporate membership status. Corporate Member Corporate membership is available to businesses, organizations, and associations that share an interest in the equine publishing industry and support the purposes and goals of AHP. NOTE: Effective for 2007, Corporate annual dues will be increased to $350. An exception to this increase has been made for non-profit organizations whose annual dues will remain at $250. Non-Profit Corporate members will be required to file proof of their non-profit status along with their new member application or renewal. This will be the first increase to Corporate membership dues since its inception and it is the AHP Board’s belief by increasing the Corporate dues to $350, no further increase will be necessary for a long time. College/University Member College/University membership is available to colleges and universities that share an interest in the equine publishing industry. Affiliate Member (Individual) Affiliate membership is available to individuals who share an interest in the equine publishing industry and support the purposes and goals of AHP. Examples of Affiliate Members are freelance writers and photographers, advertising sales representatives, public relations agents, consultants, authors, illustrators, etc. Student Member Student membership is granted to students at the high school, college, and graduate level who share a love for the equine and curiosity about careers in equine publishing. International Member International membership is available to printed publications distributed primarily outside North America, published in any language and primarily devoted to the equine industry and related lifestyles as well as individuals and businesses, agencies, organizations and associations that support the purposes and goals of AHP who reside outside of North America. International Member dues is equivalent to the appropriate membership categories listed. A $35 surcharge to cover shipping will be added for members who wish to receive information by mail.
