While the Kimes Ranch Rodeo Team hails from all over the country, the month of March found nearly all of them in the same place: Texas. The checks that they won at these rodeos have catapulted them to the top of the world standings in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association.
With a payout of nearly $1.7 million dollars, RodeoHouston can be a game-changer in the rodeo season. Bareback rider Logan Patterson qualified for the semifinals after two 83-point rides and Chad Rutherford consistently marked more than eighty points, finishing seventh in the championship round with an 85-point ride. Rutherford’s RodeoHouston earnings kept him in the sixth-place spot in the world standings, setting him up for a potential second qualification to the National Finals Rodeo.
On the other end of the arena, Kimes Ranch’s team roping duo, Quinn Kesler and Caleb Hendrix, placed in all three rounds of RodeoHouston Super Series 4 to take home $5,750 while barrel racer Wenda Johnson ran a 14.53 second pattern to qualify for the semifinals and ultimately finish seventh in the championship round. Johnson continues to leave her competition in the dust, winning the first round at San Angelo and holding on to her second-place spot in the WPRA world standings.
After a major win at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, Louisiana steer wrestler Tristan Martin kept his momentum alive with a 4.5 second run at the Walker County Fair and Pro Rodeo in Huntsville, Texas, which helped him maintain his second-place position in the world standings.
