The AFA Convention stands as the largest and most prestigious nationwide gathering of its kind, bringing together professionals and enthusiasts from diverse sectors of the equine industry. Over four days of camaraderie and learning, attendees will have the opportunity to partake in educational sessions, hands-on workshops, certification opportunities, and networking events, all revolving around the art and science of farriery.

The heart of the event, the FIA MarketPlace, will showcase the finest suppliers and manufacturers in the farrier industry, offering a lively and engaging trade show experience that is sure to captivate all participants.

On Tuesday, November 7, the educational program will kick off with twenty hour-long sessions, featuring guest lecturers who are renowned experts in the fields of farriery, blacksmithing, and veterinary care. These insightful presentations will cover a wide range of topics related to hoof care, providing attendees with invaluable knowledge and insights.  EQUUS will chronicle all of the events LIVE From the Scene with continuous updates.

The highlight of the convention is the 2023 National Forging & Horseshoeing Competition, set to run from November 7 to November 9. This thrilling competition will witness some of the nation’s finest farriers showcasing their skills in categories such as Open, Intermediate, 2-Person Draft, and Open Jackpot Classes. The pinnacle of the competition will be the Capewell North American Challenge Live Shoeing Finals on November 9 from 9:30 am – 2:00 pm, where the best of the best will compete for top honors. During this event, the esteemed members of the 2024 American Farriers Team and Apprentice Team will be announced, who will proudly represent the United States in prestigious international competitions, including the renowned International Team Horseshoeing Competition at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, England.
