Horses & Humans Research Foundation Offers Two Free Webinars in February

Horses and Humans Research Foundation (HHRF) is pleased to offer two free webinars in February 2024.

HHRF Executive Director, Dr. Pebbles Turbeville stated “HHRF is excited about the two webinars we are offering in February. Dr Tomlinson will be discussing the hot topic of social licensing. He has attended several workshops and conferences on the topic and will be sharing points of concerns and issues.  HHRF is considering awarding a grant on the topic in 2025 with the collaboration of other organizations so we thought we would open the door with a webinar. Our second webinar features Dr Cheryl Meola who edited a book called “Integrating Horses into Healing” which is a collaboration of people writing a chapter according to their expertise. We are privileged to have several of the chapter contributors on the webinar to discuss their participation and subject.“

On February 7, 2024 at 7:00pm (EST) join Dr. C. Mike Tomlinson as he leads a discussion about the EAS horse-human interactions from multiple viewpoints. Dr. Tomlinson will help the audience better understand the Social License to Operate and how it may impact EAS tomorrow and in the future. Is EAS heading toward the same fate as circus animals and marine mammal shows?

Dr. C. Mike Tomlinson DVM MBA has been a veterinarian, judge, course designer, steward, or technical delegate at about 30 FEI events each year, on nearly every continent around the globe, since 1984. He has been the Chair of the USEF Endurance Sport Committee and the USEF Para Sport Committee, Vice President of USEF, and a past President of AERC and HHRF. His technical time is spent working in chemical engineering, software coding, and medical device innovation. He holds patents in widely varied fields from cryotherapy to computer data management systems. Dr. Mike is known for his constant energy, immunity to jet lag, and penchant for cartoon ties.

On February 21, 2024, at 7:00 pm (ET) join the discussion as a panel of contributors to “Integrating Horses into Healing” come together to share insights on their involvement with the project. They will discuss how this initiative represents a crucial step toward fostering collaboration and connection, playing an essential role in education and growth within the EAS (Equine-Assisted Services) community.
