10 Future Horse Doctors Receive $10,000 Zoetis Foundation Scholarships from The Foundation for the Horse

The Foundation for the Horse has awarded $10,000 Zoetis Foundation Scholarships to ten exceptional veterinary students pursuing future careers in equine practice:

  • Nicole Gonzales, University of California, Davis
  • Fred Holcomb, Texas A&M University
  • Emma Kerr, Cornell University
  • Ryan Lurch, Lincoln Memorial University
  • Angela Mangine, University of Pennsylvania
  • Ashley Nixon, Ontario Veterinary College
  • Shelby Rivkin, Michigan State

The Zoetis Foundation scholarship program, managed through The Foundation for the Horse, rewards veterinary students at colleges of veterinary medicine in the U.S., Canada, and West Indies for their academic excellence, leadership in their school and American Association of Equine Practitioners student chapter, and their long-term goals in equine practice. Applicants apply during their second and third year of school and must also have the support of AAEP members and their clinical instructors.

Jeannette Ferran Astorga, Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability at Zoetis, and President of the Zoetis Foundation, expressed the organization’s dedication to fostering opportunities for students within a more inclusive veterinary community. She emphasized the significance of supporting the evolving veterinary profession to meet the rising demand for enhanced animal care and wellness through the initiatives of the Zoetis Foundation.

The AAEP Foundation, the forerunner of The Foundation for the Horse, established this Scholarship in 2013. The award is made possible through a grant from the Zoetis Foundation.
