AQHA experienced a year-over-year growth in membership, along with many other accomplishments in 2021.
The American Quarter Horse Association is celebrating a year of success in 2021. The Association experienced a year-over-year growth in membership of 1.7 percent growth from 2020 to 2021, along with many other accomplishments. The growth in membership included an average increase of 200 new members per month.
AQHA once again saw historical growth in show participation. The AQHYA World Championship Show, presented by Ford, made history as the largest Ford AQHYA World to date with more than 5,800 entries. The AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse World Championships saw a 30 percent increase in entries, and more than 500 first-time exhibitors entered and competed at the Farnam AQHA World Championship Show; AQHA Select World Championship Show, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan); Adequan® Level 2 Championships; and Nutrena Level 1 Championships.
“With membership growth and event participation on the rise in both 2020 and 2021, the past two years have shown us that people want to get outside and connect with their horses,” said Chad Pierce, AQHA interim executive vice president. “The growth in membership and participation has us looking forward to continuing the momentum in the coming year.”
Additional accomplishments celebrated by AQHA include the near complete funding of the AQHA Professional Horsemen’s Endowment Fund, which supports professionals in time of need, and the award of Best Overall Publication and First Place General Excellence for The American Quarter Horse Journal at the 2021 American Horse Publication Awards.
AQHA is the world’s largest equine breed organization with more than 6 million registered horses. The Association provides programs and events that allow members of all ages and equine-related interests to enjoy the American Quarter Horse.
